Editorial support for essays, dissertations, theses, and presentations being submitted for assessment or an academic award.

Covers essays, dissertations, theses, and presentations being submitted for assessment or an academic award. The same editorial judgement applies but the boundaries are different given the formal assessment context.
Proofreading and copy editing are offered as they would be for publications and journal papers. Where non-assessed publications would move into substantial editing, that same level of engagement is instead offered to students as an hour of coaching/mentoring, discussing the development and learning needs directly rather than reworking the text itself.
Proofreading: spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency
Copy editing: sentence-level clarity and flow
Copy editing + coaching/mentoring: a Zoom session addressing development and learning needs, in place of substantial editing
Boundaries shaped by academic requirements: no substantial editing or rewriting

HOURLY RATE £60
Pricing is based on time worked, depending on the manuscript needs. The table below shows typical pace and indicative cost per 1,000 words and 5000 words for proofreading and copy editing.
Substantial editing is not offered for work being assessed for an academic award. Where a piece would benefit from significant reworking, this is addressed through an additional one-to-one academic coaching/mentoring session after review.
